one of Egoyan's most accessible movies. The Sweet Hereafter is
really a superbly crafted movie with a sterling performance by
Ian Holm. Long recognized as one of Canada's
most talented directors, Egoyan broke into the mainstream's consciousness with 1995's
Exotica.
Egoyan's portraits of people possessed and driven by their secrets have earned him a place in
the brotherhood of personal filmmakers whom Hollywood respects and honors with praise,
nominations and every other type of stroke but a greenlighted project.
